My name is Sandra South. I am a PhD student at the Evolutionary Biology Centre, Uppsala University. I am Australian and have been in Sweden for three and a half years. Although I don’t speak Swedish well myself, I understand and welcome students to contact me in Swedish (as long as they don’t mind a reply in English). I would not only like to hear from students who are interested in working with me here at Uppsala University, but also from any who might have questions as to what it is like to study overseas, particularly those interested in going to Australia!

In the project, you will be looking at how larval diet affects adult ornament size and shape in mosquitoes. Due to the larval development time and method development required this project would take approximately 6 months to complete.
How much blood does a female mosquito take at every meal?
The project involves investigating how much blood a female mosquito takes at every meal, and how this relates to their body size and egg production.
